Origin Story

cove's journey began with tools and processes developed by Pattern r+d, a sustainability consulting firm founded by co-founders Patrick Chopson and Sandeep Ahuja—both building scientists and licensed architects. To scale their impact, they teamed up with co-founder Daniel Chopson, who brought expertise in web-based SaaS platforms to transform these tools into accessible software for democratizing building performance analysis. Over time, cove evolved from a software provider into a comprehensive, technology-driven sustainability consultancy. With our recent rebrand from cove.tool to cove, we reflect who we are today: an AI-enabled consultancy dedicated to driving global sustainability in building design through innovation, expertise, and a commitment to results.

Buildings account for 40% of carbon emissions and 76% of electricity use in the United States. Reducing carbon emissions in the building industry requires effort from all of the stakeholders involved.
