ATLANTA--(DATACENTER KNOWLEDGE) – In what may be an industry first, Cove Architecture has completed the design of a 10,000 sq.ft data center using entirely AI-driven processes, accomplishing in 30 days what traditionally takes months.
AI data centers have emerged as one of the industry’s most critical focus areas, with operators increasingly leveraging AI for cooling optimization, data center infrastructure management (DCIM), and strategic site selection.
Data Center Knowledge spoke with industry experts about the evolution of AI in architectural planning, and how the construction process might resist – and be revolutionized by – finding a design partner in AI.
AI-Driven Data Center Design
Cove Architecture’s data center project in Hartsel, Colorado, is currently going through the permitting process. It is the industry’s first project designed using the firm’s AI-for-architects platform, but according to the Atlanta-based company’s CEO, Sandeep Ahuja, it won't be the last.
“Developers increasingly recognize that integrating AI-forward teams in the design process unlocks exceptional efficiency, economic value, and sustainability,” she told Data Center Knowledge.
Highlighting the facility’s better-than-average PUE of 1.2, Ahuja said working with AI allowed the firm to test and refine configurations rapidly, reaching what would be weeks-long analyses in mere minutes.
